October 2012 - Ongoing Group discussions and sensitization meetings held with residents of WYCF’s target communities indicated a minimal awareness of Human Rights and a disturbingly high rate of Sexual and Gender Based Violence (SGBV). Gender inequality and violence against women remain prevalent at all levels of society in Sierra Leone, women and children being the most affected groups.
Community discussions and sensitization meetings in WYCF’s target areas have revealed a critical gap in Human Rights awareness and an alarming prevalence of Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV). Women and children, in particular, face systemic gender inequality and violence, which hinder social progress in Sierra Leone.
✅Limited awareness of Human Rights and the causes and consequences of SGBV
✅Gender inequality remains a significant barrier to community development
We cannot do this alone. Your support can help us expand our efforts to combat SGBV, raise awareness, and empower communities.
